Qualifications and experience required to become an IT security expert

In terms of educational qualifications, security professionals often do not expect to have at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, software, or anything related. A master's degree is likely to increase your chances of earning an IT security position.

There are several universities that offer cyber security programs. These are clearly directly related to the possible fields, which makes them very useful on resumes.

With all that said, this is an area where experience will truly qualify. So if you have worked for a few years in a similar position or have a certificate that is more directly related to the field than university education, then your chances are good too.

Technical and soft skills required for the job

There are many technical skills that can be part of an IT security job. One of the most important skills includes network management. This is the ability to understand how the internal network works, as well as have knowledge of how to check and test different security methods.
