(Phnom Penh): The Ministry of Health announced tonight that it has detected the new mutated virus "Delta" up to 1752 people from March 31 to August 28.
According to a press release from Fresh News, the new virus has occurred in 23 capitals and provinces, with the exception of Kep and Kratie. Phnom Penh has the largest number, up to 46 people.
The new strain of the virus was found in foreign passengers on flights, Cambodian workers returning from Thailand from Vietnam, villagers in the community, private companies, health workers, civil servants, military officials, criminals, translators, the statement said. Foreigners, garment factory workers, bank employees, pagoda nuns and students as well.
According to the Ministry of Health, the results show that the virus has been invading Cambodian communities. Especially Phnom Penh, Oddar Meanchey, Siem Reap, Preah Vihear, Kampong Cham, Kampong Thom, Kandal, Banteay Meanchey and some other provinces.
Given this alarming situation, Professor Mam Bunheng, Minister of Health, would like to reiterate and call on the public to remain vigilant, protect themselves, and never forget to change their lifestyle. In line with the slogan, "Learn to live normally with the Kovid-19 virus in a new normal path in the context of Kovid-19." This is to prevent and control the transmission of Kovid-19 virus, especially this new mutation or any other new species that may eventually occur in the Kingdom of Cambodia.
Citizens and nieces and nephews who are 12 years old or older should be vaccinated against Kovid-19 when it is their turn.
The Ministry of Health also noted that the current rate of infection is increasing among young people who go out a lot or meet friends. The ministry calls on all young people to be vigilant and prevent the spread of Kovid 19 virus.
